As Gentlemen of Mary, Notre Dame students are called to be men of Faith, Scholarship and Service. Each Notre Dame student is required to participate in the Notre Dame Christian Service Program during his time at Notre Dame.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35
Acts of service are part of our call as Christians and as human beings in general. The service you complete may be as simple as serving at an ND Open House, or as complex as traveling to another location during a school break.
In contrast to a throw-away culture, Pope Francis sets an example by calling Christians to foster a “culture of encounter” to build up relationships between peoples of the world; especially those who are neglected, ignored, and marginalized by the wider world.
Notre Dame students are called to follow in those footsteps in annually completing service hours. This webpage is a partnership between ND, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, and VolunteerBridge; designed to connect students with volunteer opportunities—organizations that are waiting to hear from you!
