Our Mission...

Catholic Charities fulfills the Church’s role in the mission of charity to anyone in need by providing compassionate, competent and professional services that strengthen and support individuals, families and communities based on the value and dignity of human life.

Volunteerism not only provides needed human resources for Catholic Charities, but it allows us to offer more compassionate services to people in need. In return, we work hard to provide our volunteers with an enriching experience that enhances the quality of their lives.

Whether they are young or old, hungry or addicted, homeless or friendless, we see the face of God in those in need. We bring hope to the hopeless in Cook and Lake counties.

We serve over one million people each year of regardless of faith, ethnicity, race or gender through programs such as:

- Childcare for low income families
- HIV/AIDS counseling
- Nutrition for low income seniors, mothers and children
- Senior housing and community centers
- Food and clothing pantries
- Health fairs for low income communities
- Immigration and refugee assistance

Catholic Charities offers more than 150 programs throughout Cook and Lake counties, so volunteers are certain to find opportunities for service that fit their time and talents. Our volunteers play a vital role alongside our trained and dedicated staff in providing service to those in need.
